Article: The Right Website Traffic Begins With the Right Keywords

I was interviewed last week by Ilana DeBare in the "Mind Your Business" section of San Francisco Chronicle on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 about getting your website found by the search engines.

The article, "MIND YOUR BUSINESS: How to drive traffic to your Web site with right keywords" asked the question:

"What are the best ways to have my site show up on top during relevant searches?"

This is one of the most common questions I get regarding website optimization and choosing the right keywords is the answer.

"There are some basic things you can do to make your site more easily found."

1. Identify the keywords that potential customers will use to search for your service.

2. Find out how many people really do use those phrases, if at all.

3. Weed your list down to about a half-dozen of the most useful phrases.

4. Make sure those keywords are included in key areas of your website.
