Connecting to a Website Using Contribute 3

Adobe Contribute 3 allows you to easily update websites easily without any knowledge of HTML. Follow the instructions below to connect to a website using Contribute 3:

  1. Open Contribute
  2. Select Edit > My Connections (Windows) or Contribute > My Connections (Macintosh).

  4. Click the Create... button. The Create Connection Wizard appears.

  5. Click Next.

    Your Homepage

  6. Enter the URL (web address) of the site you want to edit. This will be a standard web address like http://www.yoursite.com.

  7. Connection Information

  8. Select FTP from the "How do you connect to your web server?" drop down menu.
  9. Enter the name of your FTP server. This will be a standard FTP address like ftp.yoursite.com.
  10. Enter your FTP username. You should have received this in an email from your website administrator. Please email if you have forgotten or misplaced your username.
  11. Enter your FTP password. You should have received this in an email from your website administrator. Please email if you have forgotten or misplaced your username.
  12. Click Next. Contribute will test your connection.

  13. Testing Connection

  14. After Contribute establishes your connection, enter in your User information. Contribute uses this information to identify you to any other Contribute or Dreamweaver users when you edit pages on your site.

  15. User Information

  16. Click Next. Contribute will confirm your connection.
  17. Click Done
  18. Close the My Connections dialog box. Contribute will automatically connect to your website.
  19. Congratulations! You can begin editing your site by clicking on the Edit Page button.
