Showing Our Appreciation
Most of our business comes directly from referrals or word of mouth which is the best marketing channel. So why not show our appreciation?
We do. I always thank a referrer. And if the referral becomes a customer, I always show my appreciation with a gift. What kind? The ‘Thank You’ gift will depend on the person who referred; their likes/dislikes, etc. Some gifts I give are:
Amazon has got darn near everything, but the best part is that your recipient doesn’t have to drive to a store. You can purchase a physical card or have it sent directly in an email.
Darn near everyone likes a good cup of coffee. A gift card is easy, but also think about a Starbucks gift basket which could include assorted coffee varieties, mugs and hot chocolate.
Opentable has a really easy way to send a gift card from their favorite local restaurant or from one they choose. Don’t forget an amount large enough for two with drinks.
Costco has a few selections for movie tickets to the major movie theaters. If not, stop by your local theater box office or directly from their website to purchase movie tickets or gift cards.
Hell…who doesn’t like money. Along with a Thank You note, I will write a check or send money from our PayPal account which is a great way to say ‘Thank You’ for the referral.
Some of the suggestions mentioned don’t have to be a significant amount of money. I believe the thought is there that you really, genuinely, appreciate their referral.
Those are just a few of my ‘gotos’. If you have some referral gift ideas, I’d love to hear them.
